Close MatLab when exiting 'Structural VAR'.

By default MatLab remains open when you exist SVAR. By selecting this option Matlab will automatically close when you exit the software. Naturally, this feature is only available in the MatLab version of the software, not in the stand-alone version.

Don't show a splash screen.

The stand-alone version shows a splash screen, with a beautiful picture of the Cuilags on Hoy, Orkney, when SVAR is opening. This feature can be skipped by selecting this option. The splash screen is not available in the MatLab version.

Disable Structural VAR's default directory structure.

By default SVAR uses a tree-like Directory Structure, where results files and various types of input files are separated from ones another. By selecting this option, SVAR will use a flat directory structure, i.e. all files reside in the same directory.

Remember position of main program window (left, bottom=x pixels,y pixels).

By default, the main program window will open in the left bottom corner of your screen. By selecting this option, the main program window will always open where it was the last time you closed the program.

Open 'Structural VAR' with the latest opened model.

This option allows you to always open the software with a model. If selected, it enables you to consider the next option, i.e. to immediately estimate the model that has been opened.

Estimate opened model on start-up.

This feature may be useful only when you're in a hurry!

Show output tab when starting estimation.

When check marked, this option makes sure that the Output tab with the Estimation log control is displayed in the main program window once the estimation has begun.

Don't clear estimation log.

When a new estimation begins, the estimation log window is cleared by default. This option makes it possible to keep the old estimation log while running a new estimation. The estimation log is, however, always empty when you start SVAR.

Don't ask 'silly questions'.

What is and what isn't a silly question is in the eyes of the beholder... Still, to speed things up (and to increase the likelihood of doing something silly) you can turn off all queries made by the software.

Add context menu to file and directory edit controls.

This option creates a text object with borders and a background simulating the standard edit control. Since the text is edited via the text object it has access to the built in context menu for all text objects which are activated. The drawback with this new edit control is that it displays the whole text string when activated and since this string is cut off at the dialog edge, the whole string may not be displayed. The advantage is, of course, that standard editing commands are available from the context menu.

Fix image background color.

This option should normally not be needed. However, on, e.g., Windoze ME I have noticed that colors can become distorted when images are placed on toolbars and buttons. For example, if the color is given as the RGB triple (216,208,200), then it is displayed as (224,212,208). By checking this option SVAR subtracts (8,4,8) from the original RGB triple.

Use system fonts for GUI and text controls

When check marked, all gui controls and display of "fixed width" fonts will use the system settings. This also disables the GUI Font and Text Font buttons.

GUI Colors.

This option allows you to change the color of certain GUI objects. The GUI text color refers to the color of certain text objects, such the text in the model frame on the main program window. The next three GUI colors concerns 3D effects on objects other than frames and buttons. Finally, there are also 4 progressbar color options. These refer to the ending and starting face, the edge, and the background colors of the progressbar.

Text Colors.

Set the foreground and background color in certain text windows, such as the Print Preview and.

Frame Colors.

This options makes it possible to change the settings for the heading text of frames and for the 3D effects of frames.

GUI Font.

The default values (which depend on your system settings) for the non-fixed width font used for various GUI object can be changed by clicking on this button. To reset the GUI and fixed-width text font to the system settings, check mark the option "Use system fonts for GUI and text controls"

Text Font.

Set the font used when displaying text, e.g. the output file and the license. The default is system dependent, e.g., Courier at 10 points in Windoze.

Default Colors.

Resets all GUI, Text and Frame colors to their default values.
